Among the most common types of mesothelioma diseases, falls malignant pleural mesothelioma. The malignant pleural mesothelioma is a disease, a form of cancer that develops in the lungs’ lining, in other words, the pleura or the pleural membrane. The pleural mesothelioma is a fatal disease. The pleural mesothelioma develops in the mesothelium. The malignant mesothelioma pleural is caused due to the asbestos fibers that get trapped in the spaces between the mesothelial cells.
Again, this is another disease that is caused due to the inhalation of asbestos fibers. The pleural mesothelioma of the lung is caused mainly due to the inhalation of asbestos fibers, which once enters the body is very difficult to get rid of. Asbestos fibers, as soon as it enters the body, start making the cells to divide abnormally, resulting in malignant mesothelioma pleural. Asbestos usually takes time, maybe even a decade before it starts affecting the pleural membrane leading to malignant pleural mesothelioma.
After a long period of time, asbestos may cause changes that can lead to the scarring of the lungs, ultimately leading to malignant pleural mesothelioma. An unfortunate fact about malignant mesothelioma pleural is that usually it gets detected only in the later stages and by the time the malignant mesothelioma pleural symptoms become visible, the patient must have reached an advanced stage of the disease. The pleura has two layers, the outer layer, also known as the parietal layer and the inner layer, known as the visceral layer and the primary function of these layers is to protect and support the lungs and chest cavity.
The parietal layer lines the chest and the diaphragm whereas the visceral layer covers and protects the lungs. Malignant pleural mesothelioma develops in one layer initially but then, if not detected on time can spread to the other layer as well. However, the prognosis might become very difficult if the malignant pleural mesothelioma spread to other distant locations in the human body. One thing to be noted is that, although the malignant mesothelioma pleural symptoms take its time to exhibit symptoms, additional diagnostic tests should be conducted on the patients, to confirm the malignant mesothelioma pleural disease.
